The Valencian Region is the leader in Blue Flag beaches
Quality, sustainability and accessibility on Valencian beaches
The Valencian Region is currently the Spanish region with the most Blue Flags, a distinction that certifies the environmental quality, safety and services offered on the coast. With 138 beaches, 19 marinas and two tourist boats recognised with this prestigious seal, the destination reaffirms its leadership in coastal and sustainable tourism. The figures consolidate the Region of Valencia as the autonomous region with the most Blue Flags in Spain, with 22% of the national total. Specifically, the provinces of Alicante, Valencia and Castellón added 21 new distinctions in 2024, reflecting the region's commitment to tourism excellence. Last year three new beaches won the award: Pobla Marina (in Pobla de Farnals), Rabdells de Oliva and the beach of Torres de Villajoyosa. Other beaches regained the award: the Marina Salinas de Torrevieja and the beaches of Torrenostra (Torreblanca), L’Arbre del Gos (Valencia), Les Devesses (Denia), Levante and Cala del Mal Pas (Benidorm) and La Ermita (Santa Pola).

A key tourism label
The Blue Flag recognition, awarded by the Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor [Association for Environmental and Consumer Education], assesses criteria such as water quality, accessibility, the high level of beach services, the safety of bathers and environmental management. The maintenance and growth in the number of Blue Flags reinforces the attractiveness of the Region of Valencia as a holiday destination and is an incentive for those seeking high-quality certified environments.
