Castilla-La Mancha, an emerging destination for MICE tourism
History, modernity and connectivity for unique events in the heart of Spain
Castilla-La Mancha is consolidating its position as a leading destination in the MICE sector (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions), thanks to its combination of historical heritage, modern infrastructures and a dynamic cultural offer. Its unique identity and the region’s hospitality position it as a competitive alternative to other consolidated destinations in this segment. The five provincial capitals of the region (Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara and Toledo) are connected by an advanced high-speed rail network, modern highways and roads, and by the proximity to the international airports of Madrid and Valencia, facilitating access for delegates and event organisers. Iconic sites Cities such as Toledo and Cuenca, both recognised as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, provide incomparable settings for holding congresses and conventions. Toledo, with its historic centre and medieval Moorish, Jewish and Christian monuments, has a conference centre with a capacity for up to 1,000 people in the heart of the city. Iconic places such as the cigarrales [mansions] offer historic surroundings combined with high-quality services.

In turn, Cuenca, known as the “landscape city”, fuses its natural wealth with a solid cultural offer. The Teatro Auditorio de Cuenca José Luis Perales and the city’s paraninfo [auditorium] offer modern infrastructures capable of accommodating 750 and 650 people, respectively. The city also has more than 1,300 hotel beds. MICE events often incorporate gastronomic experiences that allow participants to experience local flavours. In Castilla-La Mancha, wine tourism has established itself as an outstanding option, offering routes to visit vineyards and wineries, and transforming each encounter into a complete sensory experience. Regional craftsmanship also adds value to these events through workshops and team building activities. These initiatives not only enrich the experience of the attendees, but also contribute to boosting the local economy and promoting fair trade.
