World Tapas Day Media Event

World Tapas Day Media Event

The Spain Tourism Board in Singapore, in collaboration with key partners, hosted a vibrant World Tapas Day Media Event in Kuala Lumpur, celebrating one of Spain’s most iconic culinary and cultural traditions: tapas.

The event brought together media, culinary professionals, and content creators to highlight the essence of tapas—not merely as small dishes, but as a symbol of Spain’s rich gastronomic heritage and social culture. Guests experienced the flavours, artistry, and convivial spirit that make tapas an enduring and beloved part of Spanish identity.

We were honoured by the presence of His Excellency José Luis Pardo, Ambassador of Spain to Malaysia, whose opening remarks underscored the strong cultural and culinary ties between Spain and Malaysia.

We also had visiting delegations from Valladolid and Saborea España, whose efforts to promote Spanish cuisine globally were featured prominently. Valladolid, home to both the National and World Tapas Competitions, plays a leading role in showcasing Spain’s culinary excellence. These prestigious competitions returned this year to Kuching, Sarawak last June 16–19, where the Asia and Malaysia Tapas Competitions were held, with the Valladolid delegation serving as both jurors and cultural ambassadors.

With tapas at the heart of culture, connection, and creativity, the celebration served as a powerful reminder of how food can bridge communities and inspire travel.
