Theme parks in 2026: new experiences

Openings, shows, and immersive formats drive a more diverse and family-friendly offering

Spanish theme parks look forward to a season marked by openings, premieres, and more immersive proposals, as family entertainment expands through new water areas, large-scale shows, themed gastronomy, guided tours, and nature-related experiences. From the Costa Dorada to Madrid, Toledo, Sevilla, and Benidorm, these venues bring together an offer capable of broadening audiences, visit opportunities, and reasons for getaways distributed throughout much of the year. In Costa Dorada, PortAventura World strengthens its holiday dimension with two major family-focused initiatives. At Caribe Aquatic Park, Coral Bay, The Lost Legend adds a 65,000 ft2 space inspired by an underwater pirate bay, featuring the only family water coaster in Europe, a world-exclusive aquatic obstacle course, new slides, and updated dining options. In PortAventura Park, Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek brings adventure to the Polynesia area through secret walkways, suspension bridges, and challenges integrated into a Polynesian-inspired natural setting. The complex rounds off its summer momentum with the Hard Rock Cafe PortAventura, the brand's first establishment located within a theme-park resort in Europe, with live music and a Rock Shop. The renewal also expands to the Parques Reunidos network, presenting new features in its Spanish venues. In the Community of Madrid, Aquopolis Villanueva de la Cañada will inaugurate the Kilauea water attraction; Faunia will celebrate its 25th anniversary as a nature-themed park hosting the largest penguinarium in Europe; and Zoo Aquarium Madrid will unveil a renovated installation for sea lions. At Parque Warner, summer arrives with the DC Super-Villains Stunt Show, an action-packed production on wheels featuring DC supervillains and superheroes, as well as the Looney Tunes Magic Party, a private experience with characters, snacks, gifts, and photographs. Parque Warner Beach opened in the first week of June, while the Halloween Scary Nights will add an extra date, and Christmas will kick off in mid-November.

In San Martín de Valdeiglesias, in Madrid’s Sierra Oeste area, Dinolandia integrates The Enchanted Forest into its Botanical Garden, with a path featuring animatronic dinosaurs, an educational fossil, and a nighttime light show. In Toledo, Puy du Fou España offers up an especially ambitious season, with more than 190 opening days, improvements to every show, new staging innovations, and over 160 performances of El Sueño de Toledo. Christmas also takes center stage with new additions to La Alegría de la Navidad and even more meet & greet opportunities with the Three Wise Men. Seville maintains its focus on historical travel with Isla Mágica, open from April 11 to November 8; new shows such as El Duende de los Colores and Las Crónicas de Pigafetta, and Agua Mágica as an aquatic experience with separate admission, proclaiming itself as Seville Beach.

The Mediterranean is further boosted with the Terra Mítica park, where Titanide, Synkope and Inferno come together with the Laberinto del Minotauro, themed shows and Isla de Assina, a new family-friendly aquatic area. Also in Benidorm, Terra Natura and Aqua Natura reinforce a model that combines leisure, conservation, and learning, with more than 1,500 animals, biodiversity programs, water zones, and the Sunset Experience, a guided tour at dusk to observe animal behavior from a more sensory perspective. Aquopolis Cullera (Valencia) and Aquopolis Torrevieja (Alicante) will continue to develop their inclusive focus with personalized guides for people with disabilities and renovated multisensory spaces designed to promote emotional and behavioral self-regulation in neurodivergent individuals. Together, the season confirms the evolution of Spanish theme parks toward a more diverse and experiential leisure model. The combination of innovation, nature, family entertainment, accessibility, gastronomy, and culture strengthens their ability to generate getaways, extend stays, and energize destinations throughout much of the year.
