Sail Grand Prix turns Valencia into the Mediterranean epicenter of watersports

Elite regattas, VIP spaces, and international significance in a unique destination

Valencia confirms its commitment to sports tourism as it adds the Sail Grand Prix to its international calendar for three seasons. The first event will take place on September 5 and 6, 2026, integrating the city into the SailGP circuit with internationally renowned destinations and reinforcing its reputation as a Mediterranean hub capable of offering elite sport, premium hospitality, and exclusive maritime experiences. The arrival of SailGP places Valencia on the map of major nautical capitals alongside destinations like New York, Rio de Janeiro, Bermuda, Portsmouth, and Dubai, within a championship that combines elite sport, advanced technology, and sustainable commitment. The F-50 catamarans, with top speeds of over 60 miles per hour propelled solely by the wind, transform Valencia’s waters into a dynamic stage where innovation and spectacle merge with the urban landscape and Mediterranean culture. The Spain Sail Grand Prix represents a strategic platform with set dates that allow for the structuring of packages, themed getaways, and corporate proposals around the first weekend of September. But this experience is not limited to the regatta: it is organized around a diversified offering that ranges from stands with privileged views to other premium hospitality proposals such as the Vela Beach Club, designed as a sophisticated beachfront space with gastronomy and included services.

This offering also includes a Bring Your Own Boat option, bringing exclusivity right to the frontline on the water. The ability to find yourself just a few meters from the circuit’s perimeter, with accredited access and technical regatta tracking via VHF radio, transforms the visitor into an active player in the experience. It is not just about watching the competition, they’ll truly become part of it from a privileged position. The Race Stadium broadens its audience appeal with simulators, dining, and commercial spaces, creating an environment also capable of attracting high-income family segments. The combination of sport, entertainment, and quality services turns the weekend into a complete getaway, with options to integrate leisure, networking and shared experiences. Previous editions held in Spain have generated an economic impact of 100 million euros, proof of this type of sport’s capacity to breathe new life into the destination and bring it to the attention of qualified global audiences. Within this context, Valencia has strengthened its positioning as a city ready to host high-profile international events, as the sea becomes a strategic asset and luxury is expressed through the experience itself. With SailGP, the capital of the Region of Valencia positions itself among the world sailing elite and consolidates a premium sports-tourism proposal that combines speed, Mediterranean lifestyle, and organizational excellence in a format aligned with global traveler trends.
