Paradores: castles, monasteries and convents with sustainability certification
The 98 Paradores hotels guarantee energy efficiency and sustainability in historic and natural sites
The Paradores de Turismo, network, which has 98 establishments located in historic buildings and natural enclaves of great value in Spain since its creation in 1928, has converted castles, monasteries, convents and palaces into hotels of reference, combining heritage, culture and hospitality. It has now gone a step further in its environmental commitment by certifying all its accommodation with the EcoStars seal. The establishments are distributed throughout Spain, from iconic cities to natural parks, with the aim of promoting sustainable and quality tourism, beyond traditional destinations.

In line with its commitment to the environment, Paradores has obtained EcoStars certification for all its hotels, a seal that guarantees the sustainability of the hotel sector in terms of energy efficiency, responsible management of resources and reduction of environmental impact. The EcoStars rating is awarded on a scale of one to five eco-stars, based on criteria such as optimisation of energy consumption, waste reduction and the use of local products in their gastronomic offer. As they are located in historic buildings such as castles, monasteries and convents, the conservation of the environment is a key factor in the management of Parador hotels. With this certification, the chain reinforces its strategy to integrate sustainability into its business model, committing to responsible tourism without sacrificing the quality and heritage value of its establishments.
