Sustainability and equality: the pillars of the new Paradores Plan 2025–2028

The state-owned hotel group launches its most ambitious strategy yet to modernize its network and take the lead in responsible tourism

Today, the Paradores de Turismo hotel chain is boldly entering a new era with a long-term vision, determined to reinforce a tourism model in which economic success goes hand in hand with respect for the environment, social responsibility, and an outstanding guest experience. Amid a tourism landscape increasingly focused on environmental responsibility, the public hotel group aims to affirm its role as a pioneer for change in the sector, embracing equality, innovation, and accessibility as strategic pillars for the years ahead. Key achievements already reached in 2024 include a 20% reduction in carbon footprint, the adoption of new renewable energy sources, improved energy efficiency, and sustainable dining. Paradores is also working towards carbon neutrality in Scopes 1 and 2 by 2043, with an interim target of a 30% reduction by 2030. Meanwhile, the group will also strengthen its commitment to the circular economy, recycling, and responsible water management. Likewise, in terms of biodiversity, the Nature for the Senses program will be expanded to the entire network.

This plan comes at a time of sustained growth—with record revenues and occupancy rates in 2024—and is complemented by an ambitious modernization program. With a budget of €250 million, including investment from Turespaña and European funds (PRTR Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan), the group plans to renovate over half its establishments before celebrating its centenary in 2028. Paradores not only leads the way in numbers; it has distinguished itself with a tourism model that is committed, innovative, and aligned with the values of the increasingly discerning and conscious travelers of today.
