The Basque Country strengthens its position as a leading inclusive destination with the Queer Destinations seal

Safe, welcoming destinations that celebrate LGBTQ+ diversity

The Basque Country has become the first European destination to receive the Queer Destinations seal, reaffirming its commitment to diversity, inclusion and the safety of the LGBTQ+ community. Through a tourism network that combines specialised training, tailored services and a diverse range of experiences, the community promotes a responsible model that embraces the authenticity and freedom of every visitor, ensuring that everyone can truly be themselves, wherever they go. The Queer Destinations Committed certification, endorsed by organisations including IGLTA, ETC and LATA, recognises the efforts of 58 Basque businesses trained in professional service for the LGBTQ+ community through the Hospitality Meets Diversity program. This commitment goes beyond words. Vibrant cities like Bilbao, San Sebastián and Vitoria-Gasteiz provide welcoming environments and dedicated services, ranging from inclusive hotels to support in case of incidents. Inclusive experiences can also be enjoyed in coastal and medieval villages, as well as along mountain and nature trails. Travellers from the community will discover exquisite cuisine and wine culture in the Rioja Alavesa, all within a welcoming environment that celebrates authenticity.
