Madrid transforms its neighbourhoods into unique tourist experiences

Beyond the city centre: the capital offers a journey through 31 destinations within a single city

Madrid is expanding its tourism offering with a campaign that transforms each neighbourhood into an experience with its own unique identity. 'Te faltan calles' (You’re missing streets) invites you to explore a vibrant, surprising and diverse city where culture, gastronomy and entertainment thrive in its lesser-known corners. This commitment to new routes makes Madrid a destination to be savored year-round and with every visit. Through this initiative, Madrid invites you to discover its neighborhoods as genuine tourist destinations. Beyond the traditional routes, the city unveils a wealth of experiences reflecting history, innovation, nature and local life. The campaign kicks off by showcasing three neighborhoods bursting with personality. The journey begins in Carabanchel, where visitors can wander through former factories transformed into contemporary art galleries, discover heritage linked to San Isidro or savour a tapas tour steeped in traditional Madrid charm. El Capricho reveals a sort of natural museum that holds one of the city’s best-kept secrets: a Civil War bunker, perfect for history enthusiasts seeking authentic experiences. Meanwhile, Casa de Campo, known as the city’s main green lung, offers a full day outdoors with cycling trails, lakeside dining and visits to the zoo or amusement park — ideal for family-friendly tourism.

The first phase adds 19 more neighborhoods such as Chueca, known for its vibrant cultural and nightlife scene; Madrid Río, ideal for exploring by electric scooter while enjoying views of the Manzanares River; and Lavapiés, offering culinary routes and street art at every turn. The result is a city that multiplies itself, offering 31 unique ways to experience Madrid through to 2026. A city where each neighborhood offers experiences ranging from urban photography and literary walks to gourmet dining and local markets. Other iconic neighborhoods such as Retiro, La Latina, Usera and Gran Vía are part of this ever-expanding map.
