Olive oil shapes a unique tourist offering in the Terres de Lleida

Lleida consolidates its olive-oil tourism narrative with 46 experiences linked to the local lands

In Lleida, olive-oil tourism has emerged as a solid tourism proposal, structured around an iconic product and a territory with a deep agricultural tradition. Under the Oleoturismo de Lleida. El sabor de la tierra (“Lleida olive-oil tourism. The taste of the land”) project, the region offers 46 experiences distributed across Les Garrigues, El Urgell, El Segrià, and La Noguera, allowing visitors to discover extra virgin olive oil from multiple perspectives, spanning landscape, culture, and gastronomy. These proposals range from guided tours of historic mills and cooperatives to specialized tastings, sampling products among the olive trees, or interactive activities linked to the harvest. Experiences such as “Farmers for a Day”, in La Granadella, or the chance to experience the olive harvest in Cervià de les Garrigues offer a full immersion in the production cycle. On top of all this, initiatives including visits to the Albium oil mill, in L’Albi, allow visitors to get even closer to the production processes. Meanwhile, the gastronomic dimension takes a central role through offerings that integrate olive oil into comprehensive experiences, such as hyper-local breakfasts, vermouth among the olive trees, or picnics in rural settings. In places like La Pobla de Cérvoles or L’Albagés, these activities can be combined with tastings and set menus as the main pillars of the experience. This is a land that can also be explored from an active and cultural perspective. Bicycle trails in El Urgell, routes such as the Tour de les Cabanes in Juncosa, or themed itineraries in Fulleda allow tourists to step inside agricultural landscapes characterized by hundred-year-old olive trees, dry-stone constructions, and an environment shaped by generations of farmers. In addition, sites like the Catalonia Oil Museum or the Cal Gineret mill, in Les Borges Blanques, act as educational spaces

This offering is rounded off with a range of sensory and family-friendly attractions, from tastings among the olive trees in Els Torms to children's workshops or activities related to medicinal plants and other products derived from olive oil. Together, the project shapes a structured tourist product that, supported by the DOP Les Garrigues, integrates quality, authenticity, and diversity.
