Letter from the General Manager of Turespaña
Dear tourism professionals, We’re delighted to present the new Turespaña program, “Spain is (much) more,” an invitation to discover new destinations, new stories, and new experiences showcasing the wealth of Spain's inland areas: nature, heritage, culture, and gastronomy capable of surprising even the most demanding travelers. Spain is one of the most diverse countries in the world, where Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts coexist with mountains and deserts, unique landscapes, and an extraordinary cultural heritage. We are a cultural powerhouse, with the fifth highest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and number one in Biosphere Reserves worldwide. Within this context, this month we’re launching the “Spain is (much) more. Road Trip." Six simultaneous trips packed with adventure and outdoor activities will tour some of Spain’s incredible National Parks and Nature Reserves, such as: Doñana (Andalusia), a unique mosaic of marshes, dunes, and wildlife; La Albufera de Valencia, a lake that offers the perfect refuge amidst rice fields and birds; El Teide (Canary Islands), volcanic landscapes like something from “another planet”; Ordesa (Aragon), a natural landscape delivering all the grandeur of the Pyrenees in its purest form; Atlantic Islands (Galicia), a unique ecosystem bursting with marine and terrestrial life, revealing long virgin beaches and crystal-clear blue waters; Tablas de Daimiel (Castile-La Mancha), the serenity of a unique wetland in Europe Along these journeys, 30 content creators from 18 international markets will not only discover our nature parks, but also an emblematic hotel chain: Paradores de Turismo. These unique hotels combine history and culture, authenticity and quality, and will celebrate their centenary in 2028. Six trips to share a new perspective of Spain. Because Spain is much more: a country of diversity and sustainability, full of unique and singular experiences, both active and nature based. This diversity is further supported by top-level infrastructure and the best transport links in the world: the largest high-speed rail network in Europe, 35 international airports, one of the longest road networks and a global leader in highways and motorways, as well as excellent public services for tourists to enjoy across our Spanish destinations. Best regards, and I wish you an excellent summer. Miguel Sanz General Director of Turespaña
