Letter from the General Manager of Turespaña

Dear partners and tourism industry professionals, In 2026, Patrimonio Nacional—the public institution that manages and preserves the royal palaces, historic monasteries, and artistic collections of the Spanish Crown—and Turespaña will present one of Spain’s great cultural icons: the Gallery of the Royal Collections, a new must-see for international travelers. Located next to the Royal Palace of Madrid, the Gallery presents more than 650 masterpieces that allow visitors to journey through five centuries of history: from paintings by Velázquez, Goya, and Caravaggio, to tapestries, royal artifacts, and decorative arts that reflect the power, art, and lifestyle of the Spanish monarchy. What’s more, it is a unique way to discover the Royal Sites: an exceptional collection of palaces, gardens, monasteries, and historic residences of the Spanish monarchy located across various destinations in Spain. The Gallery offers much more than a museum visit: it is a comprehensive experience that connects art, architecture, and history, allowing visitors to access some of Europe’s best-preserved treasures in a single journey. This project was born with the aim of transforming the Gallery and the Royal Sites into one of Spain’s leading cultural tourism attractions, capable of attracting new audiences and enriching the experience for those who already come to visit us. Its international promotion is focused, among other things, on audiovisual content, digital channels, and social media, with the active support of our Tourism Offices in each market, whom you can contact directly in your respective countries to explore collaborations or the opportunity to integrate this product into your agendas. The Gallery of the Royal Collections is a new gateway to Spanish heritage, adding value to the destination and enriching the tourism offering with a unique, distinctive, and highly attractive product for the global traveler. We invite you to incorporate it into your proposals and to take part in this joint initiative as we continue positioning Spain as an internationally renowned cultural destination. Warm regards, Miguel Sanz
