Letter from the General Manager of Turespaña
Dear tourism professionals: The Spain Talks series continued in September, with international gatherings organized by Turespaña tailored to tourism professionals, with a view to showcasing the sustainability initiatives transforming Spain, as well as its leadership, its destinations, and companies in driving the sustainable evolution of tourism.
After hosting meetings in London and Berlin in the first half of the year, the second half of the year will see events held in: - Boston (September 24) - Toronto (September 25) - Rome (October 29) - Dublin (November 13) - Paris (November 25) - Buenos Aires (December 5) Each forum will bring together experts from Spain’s outbound and inbound tourism sectors, along with institutional representatives, to discuss and share insights on sustainability, digitalization, innovation, climate change, accessibility, gastronomy and regional identity, not to mention the diversification of Spain’s tourism offerings. Through conferences, panel discussions, and networking sessions, our goal is to inspire and share innovative solutions that propel our tourism industry toward a more responsible, inclusive, and resilient future. This year, we are privileged to have renowned experts such as Ian Corbett, Head of Sustainability at TUI, who spoke at the Spain Talks in London on fostering harmonious tourism; Clara van der Pol, from UNWTO, who presented the new statistical framework for measuring tourism sustainability in Berlin; Bárbara García, International Area Sales Manager at Paradores, who will share her insights on sustainability as a purchasing driver in Copenhagen; Miguel Carrasco, Director of Tourism at Impulsa Igualdad, contributing his expertise on inclusive tourism from Toronto; Miguel Fernández-Palacios, Spain’s Ambassador to the FAO, participating in Rome; and Olivia Buckley, Communications Director at Aer Lingus in Dublin, to name but a few leading industry professionals. With a dynamic and engaging format, the Spain Talks have become a key platform to foster dialogue, encourage collaboration, and strengthen Spain’s presence in key international markets. As always, we depend on your active participation, as you are key partners in ensuring Spain remains a world-leading destination, delivering value to travelers while supporting the sustainable development of our destinations. Kind regards, Miguel SanzDirector General of TURESPAÑA
