A route along the Costa de la Luz with Paradores: culture, sea, and nature

Beaches, marshes, and culture: a new route through the Andalusian Atlantic south with Paradores

Paradores invites you to discover the Costa de la Luz on a three-night trip through some iconic spots, crossing protected landscapes, historic cities, and beaches looking out over the open horizon. With accommodation in three emblematic 4-star hotels, the itinerary offers a unique experience that combines heritage, gastronomy, and nature; while offering access to unmissable natural settings, towns linked to the discovery of America, and unique points of interest along the Atlantic coast. The route begins in Cádiz, a port city known as “The Little Silver Cup”, where Baroque architecture stands side by side with contemporary buildings along the shores of the Atlantic, and travelers can immerse themselves in an old town made up of a maze of narrow streets.  From the Cádiz Parador, opposite the sea, guests will enjoy access to key sites like La Caleta Beach or Torre Tavira, with the chance to admire the urban layout from the top of the cathedral, as the city opens out onto the ocean. This city invites you to lose yourself in its neighborhoods and enjoy its gastronomy, as fried pescaíto seafood, Almadraba tuna, and fresh seafood take center stage. On the way to Huelva, the route includes the option to stop in Jerez de la Frontera for a trip to some iconic wineries, or even a detour to Seville if you have more time to spare. Next, you’ll be staying in the Mazagón Parador, right in the heart of the Doñana National Park. From there, you can enjoy over 6 miles of pristine beaches, pine forests, and Quaternary cliffs. Not far away, Moguer and Palos de la Frontera make up the Columbian Route, with stops such as the La Rábida Monastery and the Caravel Dock, where visitors can admire replicas of the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María.

The final stage leads travelers to the Ayamonte Parador, located at the mouth of the Guadiana River, opposite the border with Portugal. Highlights here include the beaches of Isla Canela and Punta del Moral, the marshes of the Isla Cristina Nature Park, and options such as a river cruise on the Guadiana or the cross-border zip line that connects Sanlúcar del Guadiana with Alcoutim in the Algarve. Gastronomy and tradition round off this itinerary with local products such as Jabugo ham and white prawns. The route will be available until December 2025, departing on Sundays.
