ISRAEL: A STRATEGIC SOURCE MARKET FOR OUTBOUND TOURISM TO THE NETWORK OF JEWISH QUARTERS IN SPAIN
On May 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. (CET), the second session of the conference series focused on the target markets of the Network of Jewish Quarters in Spain will be held in virtual format. This session will be led by Gonzalo Ceballos Watling, Director of the Spanish Tourism Office (OET) in Rome and Tourism Counsellor for Israel, who will present a comprehensive overview of the current landscape and outlook for outbound tourism from Israel to Spain. With over 7 million outbound trips in 2024, Israel stands out as one of the most dynamic source markets in the region. Its high daily tourist expenditure and an average of 3.4 trips per person in 2019 place the country among the most frequent international travelers worldwide relative to population size. The main goal of this session is to provide key insights into the segments of Israeli outbound tourism with the greatest potential to visit the cities that make up the Network of Jewish Quarters in Spain — a destination of notable cultural and heritage appeal. This initiative reinforces the commitment of the Spanish Tourism Board to foster international collaboration and to tailor promotional strategies to the specific characteristics and needs of strategic markets such as Israel, thereby strengthening Spain’s position as a leading destination for cultural tourism.
