A booming market for Spain
With over 87 million inhabitants Türkiye has become an important market for Spanish tourism promotion. An estimated 15 million residents in Türkiye have the economic capacity to travel abroad and increasingly choose European destinations with a projected figure of up to 2,5 million as potential tourists to Spain. The number of Turkish tourists visiting Spain has grown significantly: from 139,427 visitors in 2021 to over 612,000 in 2024, according to INE (Frontur) data. Furthermore, these are high-value tourists, with an average daily and per-person expenditure above the international average INE (Egatur).
Rising air connectivity
Passenger arrivals from Turkey exceeded one million in 2024, and growth continues in 2025: up to September, arrivals have increased by 21% compared to the same period last year. The opening of new routes and increased flight frequencies from Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir further strengthen this market’s potential. The “Merhaba Ispanya” Trade Days represent a strategic opportunity to boost Spain’s presence in one of the fastest-growing and most promising international markets.
