RTVE premiered This is Spain on April 26 and 27 on TVE Internacional, a new documentary series presented and directed by Enrique Alex, one of the most influential Spanish-speaking travel content creators. The program is also available on La 2 and RTVE Play. The series is a co-production between RTVE and the Spanish Tourism Institute (Turespaña).

Enrique Alex and This is Spain

Enrique Alex (Madrid, 1987), a prominent social media figure with over eight years of experience promoting responsible tourism, sustainability, and LGBTQ+ rights, travels across Spain with the same curiosity and commitment that have taken him around the world. After serving as a UN Responsible Tourism Ambassador and receiving multiple awards for his outreach work, Enrique embarks on a journey to rediscover one of the world’s most diverse and surprising countries.

The Journey of This is Spain

Across thirteen episodes, This is Spain invites viewers to rediscover the country through a new lens: that of the people who inhabit its lesser-known corners, who strive to preserve local identity, innovate without losing their roots, and build a more sustainable future. From the fragility of the Aneto glacier to the preservation of Lanzarote’s volcanic landscapes; from the resilient towns of Teruel and Cuenca to the peaceful paths of Menorca’s Camí de Cavalls; from the ancient “center of the world” in Córdoba to rural innovation among the mountains and coasts of Galicia and Asturias.

Each episode features the voices of those who live in, care for, and transform their regions. With room for Madrid’s multiculturalism, Cáceres’s monumental heritage, active tourism in the Valencian Community, green city initiatives in the Basque Country, and Navarra’s natural magic, every episode of This is Spain is a celebration of the natural, cultural, and social diversity that shapes the identity of a country in constant evolution.

This RTVE and Turespaña co-production also reflects a broader strategy to promote year-round, diversified tourism, supporting a more responsible and sustainable model while showcasing lesser-known destinations and experiences.
