CONFERENCES
This year’s conference theme is ‘A Destination Blueprint for Improved Tourism Management’, which will guide a series of in‑depth discussions analysing how destinations can better anticipate future pressures and implement effective strategies for responsible growth. The panel discussions will explore the role of emerging technologies such as AI and Big Data, the national and local development of destination-wide planning frameworks and the ongoing debate around tourism taxation as part of responsible governance. Throughout the afternoon, attendees will hear insights from industry specialists and representatives from both UK and Spanish tourism bodies, offering a range of perspectives on the challenges and opportunities shaping the sector’s future. The programme will include a keynote address by Dr Xavier Font, Professor of Sustainability Marketing at the University of Surrey, followed by a closing talk from Ade Adepitan, BBC presenter and disability advocate, who will reflect on accessibility and inclusion within tourism as part of Spain's ‘Spain for All’ campaign. The conference will once again bring together professionals from across the tourism ecosystem, including representatives of sponsoring destinations such as Elena Baena, General Director of Junta de Andalucía, and Pablo Linares, Managing Director of Gran Canaria Tourism Board.
